Synopsis

THE SURGEON is a grounded procedural following Naeem, a soft-spoken immigrant cab driver who quietly operates as a neighborhood fixer within the city’s overlooked corners and fragile community networks. When a passenger’s death pulls him into a homicide investigation, he becomes entangled with Detective Erin Reardon, a disgraced but relentless cop who realizes Naeem can navigate the city’s criminal undercurrents and cultural fault lines better than anyone on the force. Blending procedural mystery, dark humor, community drama, and slow-burn espionage, the series explores a man trying to outrun a dangerous past that refuses to stay buried.

Synopsis

SkyMed renewed for Season 3 by Paramount+

Piazza Entertainment is a Canadian-owned production company focused on developing and producing premium scripted television for domestic and international audiences. Founded in 2016 by President and Executive Producer Vanessa Piazza (SkyMed, Lost Girl, Dark Matter, Nurses, XIII, The Other Half), the company is built on a foundation of strong creative storytelling, strategic partnerships, and a deep understanding of the global television marketplace.

Named by The Hollywood Reporter as one of North America’s top 30 executives and recognized in The Globe and Mail’s TIFF Edition for her achievements in film and television, Vanessa Piazza brings extensive creative and financial producing experience to the company.

Piazza’s producing credits include the internationally successful miniseries XIII, a Canada–France co-production involving Canal+, M6, Showcase, and NBC, which went on to become a two-season television series. She later developed and executive produced the groundbreaking supernatural drama Lost Girl (Showcase/Sony/Syfy/Netflix), which ran for six seasons and became a global cult favourite. She also developed and executive produced the science fiction series Dark Matter (NBCU/Syfy/Space/Netflix), which ran for three seasons and became one of Syfy’s highest-rated programs. Piazza then went on to executive produce Nurses with Entertainment One.

More recently, Piazza developed, sold, and executive produced SkyMed, a one-hour medical rescue drama currently in its fourth season on Paramount+ worldwide.

Piazza Entertainment develops, finances, and distributes premium scripted television and feature films for an international marketplace.

In 2024, following the retirement of longtime Chief Financial Officer Edith Myers, Cameron MacLaren joined Piazza Entertainment as CFO. MacLaren brings more than 20 years of experience financing and producing international film and television projects, including scripted series and feature films, supporting the company’s continued growth and expansion.
